Why You Should Visit

A free music festival that fills the November 3 public holiday with live sets on five stages across four venues around JR Kameoka Station. Started by local volunteers in 2019, it reaches its 8th edition this year. Thirty-two acts cover jazz plus Latin, fusion, vocals, steel pan and even a keyboard-harmonica orchestra, including Dos Orientales, the duo of Uruguayan legend Hugo Fattoruso and percussionist Tomohiro Yahiro. Eleven food stalls using Kameoka produce line the main venue, so you can hop between stages and make a relaxed autumn day of it, about 20 minutes by train from Kyoto.
