Why You Should Visit

A one-night autumn gathering on Hachi Kogen, the highland in Yabu City, where people sit around bonfires under the stars. Fire pits are set out in Parking Lot No. 1; buy firewood on site, light your own fire and settle in for the evening. Food stalls from Yabu and neighboring Kami Town serve campfire dishes and warm drinks. At 18:00 a local stargazing guide leads an autumn sky walk, a prize drawing follows at 19:00, and the organizers hint at a surprise to close the night. Nearby lodgings offer overnight packages tied to the festival, so you can stay up on the plateau instead of driving down in the dark.
