Why You Should Visit

An annual autumn festival at Dam Park Ibakita, the park that spreads around Aigawa Dam in the hills of northern Ibaraki. From the morning there are hands-on programs built around the dam and its forest: tree climbing, a climb up the dam wall itself, soba-making and catching amago trout by hand. Food and craft stalls line the grounds, and after dark a campfire and a lantern-lit night walk keep things going until 21:00. Entry is ¥100 per person. A good day out for families who like being outdoors.
