Why You Should Visit

For two days the lawn beside the Tower of the Sun fills with the food of India and its neighbours. The star is biryani — spiced rice slow-cooked in a pot — and each stall makes it with different rice and different spices, so tasting your way across them is the point. Nepalese, Pakistani, Turkish, Egyptian and Sudanese kitchens join in, alongside stalls of clothing and homeware and a flea market. The stage hosts Indian dance and music, and there is kabaddi on the grass, with a beginners' session and a tournament. Entry is free once you are in the park.

FAQ

Is there an entry fee?
The festival itself is free. As it takes place inside Expo '70 Commemorative Park, you only need park admission (¥450 for high-school age and up, free for junior-high and younger). Food and goods are paid for at each stall.
Is there food other than biryani?
Yes — Nepalese, Pakistani, Turkish, Egyptian and Sudanese dishes and sweets are all on offer. If you want to try curry, kebab and samosa together, there is also the EXPO-SET box, available by advance online order.
Is it good for children?
The venue is an open lawn, and there is a kids' kabaddi taster session and mini games. There is little shade, so a hat and drinks make the day easier.
What happens if it rains?
It goes ahead in light rain and is cancelled in severe weather, with August 29 (Sat) and 30 (Sun) held as reserve dates. Same-day decisions are announced on the official X account (@JEBA2026).
