Why You Should Visit
An annual autumn festival run by Wakayama's consumer co-ops, spread across the Sunanomaru and Nishinomaru plazas below Wakayama Castle. 2026 is the 43rd edition. Sunanomaru has a shopping area for CO-OP products and household goods, a food court with charcoal-grilled chicken and sushi, and a stage with a brass band, dance, a science magic show and comedy. Nishinomaru has fair games such as water-balloon fishing plus rides on a fire engine. Admission is free and you don't need to be a co-op member — an easy day out with kids at the foot of the castle.
