Why You Should Visit

A free one-day event hosted by the Himeji Junior Chamber at the Nigiwai Plaza on the north side of Himeji Station. The participatory This is HIMEJI STAGE runs through the day with performances such as taiko drumming, emceed by Kiss FM KOBE's Tarzan Yamashita. In the evening, food reporter Hikomaro joins the Gourmet Challenge, a contest of speed and volume eating local specialties. A commemorative monument built from citizens' messages is unveiled and fireworks mark the finale, while the PAPER LANTERN ART PROJECT lights up the Central Underground Passage and Castle Garden the same day.
