Why You Should Visit

Marking Takaishi's 60th anniversary as a city, this participatory arts festival succeeds the long-running Takaishi Seaside Festival. Centred on Takaishi Station Plaza and the space under the tracks, it fills Kamo Chuo Park, Senshoji Temple and Ayai Park, Ashidagawa Furusato Hiroba and other spots with stages, food and craft stalls and workshops. In the afternoon, danjiri floats from across the city join a 60th-anniversary procession, and live music runs until 21:00. Entry is free — a good pick if you want danjiri and street-side gigs in one day.
