Why You Should Visit

An open-air festival on Culture Day that brings music, food and hands-on activities together on one plaza. Held for the first time at Nara City Hall Plaza as part of Nara Prefecture's year-long music festival, Musik Fest Nara 2026. Alongside Nara-based bands and a DJ, the Alaska band Blackwater Railroad plays two sets here, their only Nara stop on their Japan tour. Food stalls and activity booths line the plaza, and entry is free with no booking needed. A relaxed way to spend a national-holiday afternoon outdoors with live music, solo or with family.
