Why You Should Visit

A neighbourhood festival held every autumn in Mukaijima New Town, in southern Fushimi. Started by local volunteers in 2008, it reaches its 20th edition in 2026. It fills the New Town Center Plaza in front of the Kyoto Bank Mukaijima branch. The stage runs through brass band, dance, taiko drumming and yosakoi, while stalls serve yakisoba and takoyaki and farmers from the reclaimed Ogura-ike lakebed sell vegetables picked that morning. There is also a kids' corner with fishing and games, plus free health checks. Entry is free.
