2026 The Endless World of Picture Books: Kaiseisha Children's Book Exhibition

Why You Should Visit

A special summer exhibition featuring picture books and children's books from Kaiseisha, one of Japan's most beloved publishers. Long-running favorites such as the 'Nontan' series, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', 'The Crow Bakery', the '100-Story House' series, and 'Zenitendo: The Mysterious Candy Shop' come together with around 200 books, 60 original and reproduced illustrations, 70 panels, and 50 three-dimensional installations. Walk through scenes from the books and meet the characters up close. A welcoming pick for families with kids and for anyone who grew up with these stories.

Is it good for visiting with children?

Admission is free for high school students and younger. The exhibition features many panels and installations recreating scenes from the books, making it a friendly visit for families with kids.

Are there extended evening hours?

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday, July 19 are open until 19:30 (last entry 19:00). Other days close at 18:00 (last entry 17:30).

How do I get there?

From JR Sannomiya Station, transfer to the Rokko Liner and get off at Island Center Station — the museum is right there. Rokko Island is home to several museums, so it pairs well with a multi-museum visit.
