Why You Should Visit

Once a year, a Chinatown pops up at Minatomachi River Place in Osaka's Minami district. Kayusai, a festival of Chinese culture, reaches its 21st edition in 2026. Under rows of red lanterns, Chinese restaurants and other food stalls gather, while the stage opens with a lion dance by students of the Osaka Chinese School, followed by traditional performing arts, dance and live music. The signature treat is free Shaoxing wine. There are festival games for kids such as bouncy-ball scooping, entry is free, and seating is provided so families can sit down to eat.
