Why You Should Visit

A one-day festival at Lavender Park Taka, on a hillside in Taka, Hyogo, timed for when its roughly 13,000 lavandin lavender plants come into bloom. Try the ever-popular lavender picking (50 stems for 500 yen) or the free quiz rally that takes you around the grounds. The open-air market lines up curry bread, charcoal-grilled Banshu jidori chicken, handmade bread and seasonal flower seedlings, while the fragrance studio runs workshops from moss terrariums and aroma goods to Hyogo-leather keychains. Pets are welcome on the walking paths, making it an easy early-summer day out among the purple fields with family or your dog.
