Why You Should Visit

A zongzi (sticky rice dumpling) festival held in Kobe's Chinatown for the Dragon Boat Festival, one of China's three major seasonal celebrations. This year, 11 shops offer 13 varieties — from Cantonese-style and Taiwanese-style dumplings to seafood versions — starting at 400 yen each, perfect for a tasting walk. On Saturday, June 20, a Chinese lion dance will be performed in Nankinmachi Square.

Also a 10-min walk from Hankyu Kobe-Sannomiya Station (west exit). Cars cannot enter Nankinmachi itself — use nearby coin parking lots, concentrated along Sakaemachi-dori.

FAQ

Is there an admission fee?

Admission is free. Zongzi can be purchased at each shop from 400 yen.

Can I buy zongzi anytime during the fair?

Hours and closing days vary by shop, and items sell out. Some items are limited: YUNYUN (500 during the fair), Daidoko Taiwan Tanpao (10 sets per day), and Mizu Club Center (20 total).

Will the lion dance be held in the rain?

It will be canceled in case of rain. It is scheduled for Saturday, June 20 from 3:30 p.m. in Nankinmachi Square.

Can I take zongzi home?

Yes. Dokigo is takeout-only, and Shanghai Hanten's braised pork zongzi is sold frozen.
