Why You Should Visit

A traditional festival at Nishinomiya Shrine that re-enacts the legend behind the shrine's founding. The highlight is a procession carrying a loquat-adorned portable shrine (mikoshi), accompanied by young women in yukata who distribute loquats to visitors free of charge. Sacred kagura dances are also performed. The festival goes by several affectionate nicknames — 'Yukata Festival,' 'Loquat Festival,' and 'Shiri-hineri Festival' — and marks the beginning of summer in Nishinomiya.
