Kawazu-zakura cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers are simultaneously at peak bloom at Nadahama Ryokuchi in Nada Ward, Kobe. This fleeting overlap of yellow and pink is only possible right now.
A field of yellow rapeseed stretches into the distance, Kawazu-zakura trees bloom in pink behind them, and the red pillars of the Hanshin Expressway run overhead — the dramatic spring scenery unique to Nadahama Ryokuchi makes even passersby stop in their tracks, photographers and non-photographers alike.
March 14 (Sat): The Nanohana Festival
Timed to the bloom peak, the “25th Nanohana Festival” was held on Saturday, March 14 from 9:45 AM to 12:30 PM. This beloved community-organized festival featured food stalls, stage performances, bingo, and plenty of family-friendly fun — all with free admission and stage viewing.
Born from the recovery efforts of the Great Hanshin Earthquake, this festival marked its 25th anniversary.

A park at the mouth of the Saigo River in Nada Ward, Kobe. In spring, enjoy kawazu cherry blossoms, rapeseed flowers, and snow willow simultaneously. Somei Yoshino cherries bloom in April. Also features basketball courts and playground equipment.
Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art
Opened in 2002 as a symbol of cultural recovery from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, this is one of Western Japan's largest art museums. Designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, the building features distinctive spaces using exposed concrete and natural light. The museum houses over 10,000 works, focusing on modern sculpture, prints, and works by Hyogo-related artists.
Kobe Oji Zoo
A nature-rich zoo at the foot of Mt. Rokko. Houses about 120 species and 700 animals, and was once famous as Japan's only zoo where you could see both pandas and koalas. Features the nationally designated Important Cultural Property 'Former Hunter Residence' and an amusement park, also renowned as a cherry blossom viewing spot in spring.
