mitten, a café-diner in a former ski-area building on the Kannabe Highlands in Hidaka, Toyooka, began its soft opening on October 10, 2026. The main menu is pasta and bagels made with a house levain starter, served as lunch sets or on their own, plus coffee, cake and tea; a single drink is welcome. Open 11:00–17:00 (last order 16:00, lunch last order 14:00), closed Thursdays and Fridays. During the soft opening, bagels for takeaway are usually off on Mondays and pasta lunch on Wednesdays. The last stretch of road is a narrow uphill lane and parking is limited.
