ammel, a bookseller and record shop that has run an online store and pop-ups around Kawaramachi for two years, opened its first permanent shop in Nishijin on October 11, 2026 as a pre-opening. Books include new and secondhand international art and photo books, Japanese fiction, humanities, philosophy and picture books; records are new releases only, centered on experimental, ambient and house plus techno and modern classical. Hand-drip coffee and drinks including alcohol are served too. Through the end of the year it opens every Sunday and on extra irregular days, 12:00–20:00, announced on Instagram. A 3-minute walk from the Senbon-Nakadachiuri bus stop.
