The new Kobe Historical Archives opens on June 1, 2026 in the Hyogo-tsu district, a historic port quarter of Kobe. The facility combines the preserved and renovated 'Former Okakata Club' building — a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in Hyogo Ward — with a new five-story annex. It houses 'specified historical official documents' from the city's archives and rare regional historical materials collected for compiling Kobe's history, opened to the public so anyone can trace Kobe's modern past through primary sources.
