Why You Should Visit

Taisanji Temple is home to the city's only National Treasure building. Is the event cancelled if it rains?
Yes, the event will not be held if it rains. The organisers will post an update on the event page, so please check before heading out on the day.
What time does the free shuttle bus run?
Outbound — from Gakuentoshi Stn.: 9:35, 10:20, 11:30, 12:50; from Ikawayadani Stn.: 9:45, 10:30, 11:40, 13:00. Return — from Taisanji Parking: 11:00, 12:10, 13:30, 14:15 (via Ikawayadani, bound for Gakuentoshi). Note: boarding mid-route on the return is not available.
Where can I board the shuttle bus?
Board at the west side of the taxi stand at Gakuentoshi Station, or at the south rotary at Ikawayadani Station. A map showing exact stop locations is included in the event flyer.
Can I walk from the nearest station?
Yes, both stations are walkable. It's about 30 minutes from Gakuentoshi Station (mostly downhill) and around 40 minutes from Ikawayadani Station on flat terrain. Both routes pass through pleasant countryside scenery.
Are there activities that require joining at a specific time?
Two activities have set times. ① Tree climbing (year 1 and up, 6 spots per session, ¥2,500): Session 1 — meet at 10:20, runs 10:30–11:30; Session 2 — meet at 12:20, runs 12:30–13:30. ② Log staircase building (all ages): scheduled to start around 11:00.

A quiet ancient temple nestled in the rural mountains of Nishi-ku, Kobe. Said to have been founded in the Nara period, its main hall from the late Kamakura era is the only National Treasure building in Kobe city. Walking along the forest approach to the temple grounds, visitors are welcomed by beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn foliage. A hidden gem about 30 minutes by car from central Kobe.
