I walked through Arima Onsen at night to check out the cherry blossoms. The stretch from Taiko Bridge along the riverside is the heart of the experience — a quieter, more intimate kind of yozakura than the big illumination events. The number of lit-up trees is modest, but the location is close to Arima Onsen Station and easy to visit for just a short evening stop.

The Trees Near Taiko Bridge Are the Highlight
Walking from Taiko Bridge along the river, you’ll pass several illuminated cherry trees. Of all of them, the ones right by Taiko Bridge stood out the most. Warm-toned lighting brings out the blossoms beautifully, and the glow blends naturally into the hot spring town at night.
The illumination doesn’t stretch far in either direction, so rather than walking a long route, settling near Taiko Bridge and the riverbank is the most satisfying way to take it in.

Head Down to the Riverbed for a Different Perspective
In some spots along the path, you can step down to the riverbed and look up at the blossoms from below. The change in elevation gives you a fresh angle — the hilly, layered landscape Arima is known for frames the cherry trees in a way you can’t get from the bridge or walkway above.
It’s less about getting the perfect shot and more about savoring the spring air while you’re already in Arima. That’s the honest impression the night cherry blossoms here left.

Close to the Station — Easy for a Quick Evening Visit
This area is within walking distance of Arima Onsen Station, so you don’t need to be staying overnight to stop by. It’s well-suited to plans like “spend the day elsewhere and head to Arima for the evening” or “take in the night cherry blossoms after a bath and head home.”

“Arima no Koniwa” Illumination at Taiko-no-Yu (Until April 19)

Arima Onsen Taiko-no-Yu is also hosting an illumination event called “Arima no Koniwa” that pairs well with a riverside stroll.
Dates: March 27 (Fri) – April 19 (Sun), 2026 / 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM nightly ※ Closed on April 6 (Mon) and April 7 (Tue)
The cherry trees along Kanbei Kodo in front of Taiko-no-Yu and the Yunoyama slope between Arima Kirari and Taiko-no-Yu are lit up with full-color LED lighting. The illuminated area is accessible even if you’re not using the baths, making it easy to include in a night cherry blossom walk.
A Good Fit If You…
- Want to enjoy an evening stroll in Arima Onsen during cherry blossom season
- Prefer a low-key, atmospheric yozakura over a flashy event
- Want something close to the station for a short spring evening out
- Plan to combine it with a bath or a walk through the hot spring town
